A member asked:

Is it ok for furosemide pills be crushed for use by someone that can't swallow pills?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Furosemide, aka lasix, (furosemide) is a diuretic used for removing excess fluid in persons with heart, blood pressure and/or kidney problems. It is supplied in immediate release tablets so there is no problem with crushing or chewing it. Meds in "time release" or "extended release" form can't be crushed, and are usually labelled as such. When in doubt, ask a pharmacist.
