Edema: It may very well be that your gut is also swollen and is not absorbing the Furosemide appropriately. It may be wise to get back to the doctor and let them know that this high dose of Furosemide orally is not working. They may need to get this medicine to you through an iv.

Edema and diuretics: You need to see if you are ingesting more water and sodium than you believe you are. Start by weighing yourself daily. If your weight increases by 1-2 lbs/day, you are gaining water weight. See your doctor and have your urine checked for protein. Have your cardiac and renal function checked to make sure there is no problem with them. Edema that increases is a serious problem, get some help fast.
