Possible: The upper wisdom tooth is located in close proximity to the floor of the maxillary sinus. In some cases the roots of the wisdom tooth, may actually appear to extend into the sinus. One of the potential risks associated with the removal of an upper wisdom tooth is possible involvement with the maxillary sinus. If the sinus was not involved during surgery, the sinus pain should subside.

Yes: Yes, this is very common because the maxillary sinus is right up there where the roots of the wisdom tooth used to be. In some cases the maxillary sinus wall can be perforated and this can be treated with antibiotics and otc sinus meds. Your sinus pain should subside gradually over the next days and weeks. If pain doesn't go away, see your dentist.

Can happen: It can happen... Best to see the dentist who removed the tooth. They may want to see a cat scan. As the other doctors have pointed out the sinus area is above your teeth.
