How long after surgery does general anesthetic grogginess last for?

Depends on situation: If surgery was extensive or prolonged, more meds are given during the course of general anesthesia and recovery will take longer. Conditions such as old age or poor function of the liver or kidneys can make medications take longer to wear off. So it's hard to say how long grogginess will last. After a short procedure in a healthy patient, the effects of general anesthesia will wear off quickly.

Anesthesia: As stated there are many variables to account for making a generalization very difficult. Speak to your surgeon who knows your medical history for a better estimate.
