Surgery and a Cold: Possibly. Both your anesthesiologist and surgeon will conduct a focused history of this illness and do a physical exam. They will then assess the risk of undergoing an elective procedure in the face of your current health status. Fever, a productive cough, malaise, reactive/congested airways can increase your risk of complications peri-operatively.
