A member asked:

I went through rapid detox for opiate addiction several years ago. after relapsing my withdrawal symptoms seem more intense. is there a connection?

No: Rapid detox is a method used to withdraw from an opiate medication that is advertised to be painless. There is no scientific evidence that this is the case. Patients undergoing rapid detox have been shown to have just as severe withdrawal symptoms as those without it.

Not really: I am not aware of any data that supports such connection. Your withdrawal symptoms are often determined by the dose and type of opioid you have been using and how abruptly you quit taking the drug and the nature of any other drugs that you were also taking or coming off of.

Sort of: Opiate addiction is a progressive disease and does not reset back to normal while you are clean. The disease "does push ups" while you are clean, and if you relapse it can make withdrawal symptoms worse.
