No, there's more: There are other sub-particles such as vldl (very low density lipid) that also make up the total cholesterol count. Please also note that in the standard lab reports, LDL is a calculated number, not a direct measurement.

Yes: Total cholesterol measures the cholesterol contained in all lipoproteins including low density lipoprotein (ldl), intermediate density lipoprotein (idl), high density lipoprotein (hdl), very low density lipoprotein (vldl), and chylomicrons.
