How do scars develop on corneas, is there any prevention or scar removal medicine?

Wound healing cornea: Severe damage to cornea tissues may result in scar formation. As there is no circulation within the cornea, wound healing is often outside the tissue with limited regenerative abilities. Often requires corneal transplant if extent of damage or scar accumulation is found. Abrasions can heal without scar tissue, but usually not full thickness damage.

Pressure: Scars can develop from severe injury, multiple injuries or from pressure on the eye surface, whether from mechanical sources (like the eyelid) or internal forces (like glaucoma). The best prevention is wearing adequate eye protection for your work and hobbies and avoiding prolonged direct pressure on the eye surface. Yearly vision checkups may also help spot early problems.
