Can you explain what high/low viral load means?

It depends: Viral load is different for hepatitis b or hepatitis c. For hepatitis C a high viral load is often considered greater than 800, 000 copies of virus. For hep b, some guidelines consider a high viral load greater than 2000 copies. Because under 2000 copies for hepatitis b, would often not receive treament.

Viral load: The “Viral Load” is the actual number of virus particles found in a given volume of blood. A low viral load means that few virus particles are found. A high viral load means that there are many virus particles in that blood specimen. It is used as a way to measure how contagious a person is or how active the virus is behaving( replicating, multiplying). I hope that is helpful.
