Help with double-vision!? merely nearsighted, but lately there is a shadow when reading words and signs?

Check your vision: A shadow doesn't necessarily mean "double vision", it could be a manifestation of out of focus vision. If the trouble is only at near, then it may be presbyopia. Have a thorough eye exam to determine the cause.
