A member asked:

Can reading glasses correct nearsightedness?

No: people who are nearsighted can often read quite well without their glasses on. Their reading vision actually gets worse when they wear their distance glasses when they try to read. This typically happens when they get into their mid-40s. They develop a loss of focusing power up close called presbyopia (happens to everyone).

No: If you are nearsighted, reading glasses are not needed as you can already see at near. If anything, they would make the vision worse.
