Does cataract extraction hurt afterwards?

Minimal discomfort: Typically there is minimal to no discomfort following cataract surgery is the norm. It can be scratchy and irritated usually for the first 24 hours or so. Sometimes there can be discomfort from a corneal abrasion, elevated pressure, or possible other causes following cataract surgery; uncommon, but can occur. You should follow up with your eye doctor immediately.

No: Cataract surgery is painless. The incision is only 1/16th inch long. If there is pain, it usually means something is going wrong.

No: No. You should not have pain after surgery. Some irritation or mild soreness may occur but should not be significant.

Usually minimally: Any surgery can cause post operative pain. In cataract surgery this is usually minimal and lasts usually only for a couple of days.
