A member asked:

Could you tell me what happens when you don't take synthroid (thyroxine) for hypothyroidism and start taking it again?

Nothing: It takes time for Synthroid (thyroxine) to build up in your body. If you stop Synthroid (thyroxine) and start again, you might feel hypothyroid for the 1-2 weeks it takes for Synthroid (thyroxine) to reach steady state.

Depends: Was the synthroid (thyroxine) doing anything for you in the first place? If it helped you before, it should do so again. If you went off it because you did not feel much of a difference, then it may not be the right med for you and you may do better on Armour Thyroid instead.
