A member asked:

What is the difference between epiglotitis and pain with swallowing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Overlapping: You will have pain with swallowing if you have epiglotitis. However, epiglotitis is not the only cause of painful swallowing (odynophagia). Radiation, ulcers, infections, acid, medications can all lead to odynophagia. Epiglotitis is usually caused by an infection.
