A member asked:

Why is blood sugar more accurate with blood obtained by venipuncture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tissue fluid: Blood from a vein in direct measuring of blood. A finger stick is blood mixed with fluid from the tissue which has a lower blood sugar in it. Be careful not to squeeze as it will give you more tissue fluid and less blood resulting in a lower than real blood sugar value.
