A member asked:

How many deaths per year from temporal arteritis (and how do they die)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very few: Mortality of this condition per se is very low as when recognised, the usual treatment with medium or high dose steroids is quite effecteve. The risk is in the cardiovascular system as most people of ta age are over 70 and have serious comorbid conditions. Every one dies, mostly of coronary or stroke rather than the primary problem.
