Washing: Sheets should be washed weekly; it is best to kill dust mites with bleach, but if you use colored or patterned sheets, make sure the water heater is set to 130 degrees f. Allergy covers should be washed according to the manufacturer's recommendations; using harsh conditions to wash the allergy covers may render them less effective at keeping dust mites away from you.
