Are cravings real or just an excuse?

Depends: Some cravings can reflect a need from our body of some specific nutrients, although most of people use that term as an excuse :).

Not an excuse: But often a way of temporarily alleviating underlying emotional pain. So the cravings are "real" but their source is something other, making them seem on the surface "an excuse" to sensitive outsiders.
