High volume antigens: During the iui, you are being exposed to a large amount of "foreign" material very quickly. With sex, the vagina delivers the sperm to the cervix slowly. Most of the semen which nourishes the sperm is left behind. With washing, you are reducing the semen delivery while maximizing the delivery of high quality sperm.
