Lengthy time: The dominant eye is the guiding eye for focus and tracking. The focus shifts to the non-dominant eye when the dominant is covered. To force the non-dominant to become dominant requires continuous loss of the dominant eye for a years' time. This is an issue with eye injury, why would you want this shift to take place otherwise.
