Infection plus: This is imprecise term but "sepsis" is said to exist when there are signs of a generalized inflammatory response in the body, this includes fever, elevated white cell count, rapid heart rate and respiratory rate, abnormally low blood pressure. If the source of the infection causing this is the lung, then the patient may be said to be septic from pneumonia.
