A member asked:

Is anyone familiar with jaw pain in sarcoidosis?

Jaw pain: While not common, the salivary glands particularly the parotid gland can be involved and become tender. This gland lies near your masseter muscle which closes your jaw. This causes jaw pain especially when chewing.

Tmj: The reason you have jaw pain could be caused by your temporal mandibular joint and if that is the case warm moist heat will help. Swollen lymph nodes from your sarcoidosis could be causing the pain or salivary gland inflammation from your sarcoidosis could be another cause.

No but: You should not have jaw pain but problems with the adjacent parotid glands can mimic jaw pain. See ENT doc. http://cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs-wm/22119.pdf

Not likely: The reason you have jaw pain could be caused by your temporal mandibular joint and not sarcoidosis. See your dentist for TMJ evaluation.
