Benign almost always: These lesions are benign tumors arising on the basis of a developmental defect. Medical suggest that they are derived from the third branchial arch and that they are composed of abnormal thymic tissue. This is quite an unusual disease. But is a benign tumor in virtually all reports, with no return after surgery or need for chemotherapy.
