There are many cause: Fliud on the brain may be the result of a blockage to the outflow of cerebro-spinal fliud as it leaves the ventricles in which case it is refered to as hydrocephalus..Either communicating or non-communicating. Fluid on the brain may also refer to accumulation of fluid out side the surface of the brain in the sub-dural space...Aka: subdural hematoma.

More than one type: Excess accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid is often due to blockage to the flow. Edema of the brain is often due to trauma and electrolyte abnormalities.
