After a total abdominal hysterectomy, when will the symptoms of menopause start?

Depends: If they removed your ovaries or not, i assume they did. But a total abdominal hysterectomy means removal of the uterus and cervix. If they also remove your ovaries that is called total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo- oophorectomy. If both ovaries were removed most patients usually get hot flashes within a few days but could possible be longer and the severity can vary per person.

Depends: If your ovaries were left behind you should start it when your ovarian function ceases at its normal tiime. If your ovaries were removed you may start to feel the hot flashes within a day or two.
