If ovaries removed: Only if the ovaries are also removed.Hysterectomy means removing the uterus.In medical speak, if the ovaries are also removed, it's a hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy (removing both ovaries) if the ovaries are removed.Ask your doctor if there is a need to remove one or both ovariesoften it may not be necessary. Removing the ovaries causes a "surgical menopause"--again in medical-speak.

Hysterectomy : Whether or not you go through the menopause depends on whether or not at least one ovary is being left behind. If both ovaries are removed, you will go immediately through the menopause. The main symptoms re hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.
