Can tooth contouring or reshaping fix crooked teeth without getting braces?

Depends: The most common use of tooth contouring is to correct the length of the front teeth, particularly the canines. Orthodontists frequently reduce the width of the teeth to make space to reduce crowding. Removing enamel to improve cosmetics may interfere in healthy chewing. The purpose of braces is to create a healthy bite so you can chew well. We are lucky that good cosmetics happens also.

Small change: You can't recon tour the teeth too much or you will cause damage. Contouring usually only takes place on the edges and not on the front of the teeth. So you can expect very small changes by contouring the teeth. Best to get an orthodontic evaluation to see your options for straightening your teeth.

Depends on severity: Mild malposition can be disguised by doing cosmetic surgery, reshaping the teeth. Moderate to severe malposition can be somewhat disguised by caps or veneers, but this requires even more tooth surgery. Best scenario is to put teeth ion optimum positions non-surgically (orthodontic rx), which will minimize the amount and maintenance requirements of the surgical approach.

Partly: Depending on the degree of malalignment, cosmetic contouring of enamel only can give the illusion of tooth straightening, but usually only with minimal cases.
