Muscle Aches/others: Primary side effects of statins in general are muscular, either aches, or in more severe cases ( and less common) muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) which can lead to kidney failure and can be life threatening. Statins can also increase the risk of diabetes, primarily in those at risk for diabetes, and this does not seem to offset the benefits in those who qualify for statin therapy. See addtional.
