Lipitor (atorvastatin): Works better than Simvastatin for some people. Simvastatin controls cholesterol for many people though [watch out for maximum dose and possible interactions with your other drugs]. Good news: Lipitor is now available as atorvastatin, its generic form, so it's cheaper! remember about eating well and exercising too. Good question.

Lipitor (atorvastatin) is stronger: Lipitor (atorvastatin) and now generic Atorvastatin is 'stronger' on a mg to mg basis compared to simvastatin, meaning it lowers the cholesterol 20-30% more than simvastatin.
