How long it will take to recover from parathyroidectomy?

Minimal: Most parathyroidectomies by experienced surgeons are done through small incisions in the neck and as an outpatient. Pain is minimal and recovery is short.

5 to 7 days: As a minimally invasive thyroid/parathyroid surgeon, my patients routinely leave 4 to 6 hours after surgery talking, walking and eating without a drain and usually with a 1 inch incision. They usually go back to work 5-7 days later.
