A member asked:

Can you have an infection if a normal cbc?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, viral: Yes, you can have a viral or localized fungal infection and a normal cbc. A bacterial infection typically causes your immune system to respond and would raise your white blood cell count. A minor/localized bacterial infection (sinuses, skin infection) may not raise your WBC count. In either case you should have a physician evaluate your condition to determine if medication is needed or not.
