A member asked:

Why is the ca-125 blood test to check for ovarian cancer not part of a woman's checkup?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not useful: It is neither sensitive nor specific for ovarian cancer and is not useful as a screening test. If elevated at diagnosis of ovarian cancer, it is useful in following the progress of tumor and response to treatment.
