Why do some women get blood in their urine with ovarian cancer?

Ovarian cancer: Ovarian cancer commonly spreads by the cancer cells sloughing off the ovary, floating in the abdominal cavity, and planting in other areas, especially where the fluid pools. The bladder surface is one of those areas where implants commonly occur, and can cause blood in the urine. Sometimes the ovarian tumor itself can rest on the bladder and cause bladder irritation, and potentially bleeding.

Hematuria & Cancer: Blood in the urine, or hematuria, may be seen in certain types of genito-urinary cancers, including ovarian cancer, but is it is often due to a much less serious condition, such as a bladder infection or bladder or kidney stone. You should consult your oncology team immediately, however, because hematuria should always be investigated imminently.
