A member asked:

What does vasopressin do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Holds onto water: The posterior (back) part of the pituitary gland in the brain contains the cells that produce oxytocin (that stimulates uterine contractions in labor) and ADH (anti-diuretic hormone), which regulates retention of water by the body. ADH is also called vasopressin because it makes some blood vessels constrict (tighten).
