Not a clear answer: From amini and schmidt, who looked at ADH (vasopressin) secretion after spine surgery, "the mechanism by which CNS disorders cause SIADH (vasopressin) is not well understood. Most authors hypothesize that injury to the CNS disrupts or alters the osmoregulation of ADH (vasopressin) release by the neurohypophysis, stimulating inappropriate release of adh (vasopressin).".
