Similar to MD's: While osteopaths started with the belief that treating bone misalignments was key to healing, over time they have become nearly identical to md's in their training & philosophy. However, they go to osteopathic medical schools & are given a do degree. They have the same legal standing as md's.Osteopaths are a bit more likely to become family doctors. A minority do practice osteopathic manipulation.

Drs with DO degree: An osteopathic doctor is a doctor with a D.O. Or doctor of osteopathic medicine degree instead of an md degree. Medical license and scope of practice is the same as md. Do's are trained at osteopathic medical schools instead and also learn to diagnose and treat with manual or adjustment techniques as well similar to chiropractors but more refined and gentle in technique as well as md medicine.
