2 different things: Rsd is a poorly understood condition associated with injury to a limb. The limb becomes very painful, hot, red with increased sweating. The cause is not known. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The symptoms are aching pain in the hand, numbness and tingling in the thumb, index and middle finger. Treatment varies from pt, injections, splints, surgery.
