Reflex Sympathetic: Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (rsd) is characterized by a group of symptoms including pain (often "burning" type), tenderness, and swelling of an extremity associated with varying degrees of sweating, warmth and/or coolness, flushing, discoloration, and shiny skin. Carpel tunnelcarpal tunnel syndrome is an entrapment median neuropathy, causing paresthesia, pain, numbness and weakness of the hand.

2 different things: Rsd is a poorly understood condition associated with injury to a limb. The limb becomes very painful, hot, red with increased sweating. The cause is not known. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The symptoms are aching pain in the hand, numbness and tingling in the thumb, index and middle finger. Treatment varies from pt, injections, splints, surgery.
