Gastroscopy(EGD): Hi, in clinical practice the GI physician usually performs a pan upper GI endoscopy(egd- esophago-gastric dudonescopy) with visualization of the esophagus the stomach and the duodenum upto the second portion of the duodenum, even if the clinical indication for the gastroscopy (egd) is only for a stomach biopsy. Hope this helps.
