If a colonscopy can reach the small intestine, why would the dr also want to do an endoscopy through the stomach to the sm bowel as well to biopsy all?

Different Areas: The colonoscopy may reach the end of the small bowel whereas the upper endoscopy reaches the start of the small bowel. Even though they both reach the small bowel those areas function differently. Also the upper endo allows for biopsy of the stomach and esophagus if needed. Need for these scopes depends on the condition being evaluated.
