How can one distinguish cardiac from non-cardiac chest pain?

Challenging : It can be difficult to distinguish between the two. The workup needs to start with a good history and physical including an ekg. Once these are done an one's risk is established more specific tesing can be done such as lab work, stress testing , echocardiography, ct angiography and ultimately coronary angiography. The evaluation is very patient specific.

Get checked: We have blood tests, ekg, stress test or cardiac cath to figure out whether the chest pain is related to the heart. If these tests are negative it is considered non-cardiac chest pain which needs to be further investigated.
