A member asked:

How can i tell if i have ic/bps or cystitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IC vs Cystitis: Evaluation by a doctor that treats ic is the best way. Most patients have been treated for multiple urinary tract infections with negative cultures. Suspicion of ic is based on history and diagnosis can be confirmed by cystoscopy - using a small scope to look into the bladder after the bladder has bee distended. Testing the bladder with a solution captaining potassium can also be done.
