Mostly the lining: Vast majority of the cancers of uterus arise from the lining of the uterus, be that cervix or the body of the uterus. Benign tumors of the muscle, leiomyomas/fibroids, are common, but cancer of the muscle, leiomyosarcoma is uncommon.
