No special prep need: There is no special preparation needed for mammography. If you have sensitive or tender breasts it may be best to schedule your mammogram on day 6-10 of your cycle, as you may be least tender at that time. You will want to avoid wearing jewelry that hags near your breasts as it will get in the way. Also, some body powders, antiperspirants and makeup contain metals and can interfere.

No deodorant, powder: For you mammogram it is important not to wear deodorant, lotion or powder on your upper chest/breast or under the arm. You can put these on after your study is complete. Ask for a soft pad on the plate to help with comfort. Be sure you are getting a digital mammogram. Let the staff know it's your 1st time so they can explain the process. It's not bad and is important for early detection!

Mammo prep: Don't put on any deodorant or powder, since it may cause the false appearance of an abnormality. Otherwise, not much else to do!
