A member asked:

What is purpose of hpv dna test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HPV: Once someone has hpv in their body, it is always there, but in most (~70%) people, the immune system keeps it dormant and there are no signs of it. Lab tests can be done to specifically determine the type(s) of hpv someone has. Types 16 and 18 are most often associated with cancers or precancers.
