If it is caused by: Herpes you should take oral valtrex, (valacyclovir) that is the quickest way to get rid of it. Your doctor can prescribe that for you.

Cold sores: Your Dr can prescribe oral valtrex or another antiviral medication. Brief supplementation w lysine 1,000mg orally 3 times a day at onset, can also hasten healing.
