Treatment: There is nothing you can do, short of seeing a vein specialist, if you want to get rid of your bulging varicose veins. Generally bulging varicose veins that you can see above the surface of the skin means that their are veins that you can't see below the surface of the skin that are causing the problem. You need to see a vein specialist, get a venous ultrasound, and discuss a treatment plan.

Absolutely: Varicose veins are generally due to underlying venous insufficiency or reflux, which can be readily identified by a vein specialist by duplex ultrasound evaluation in the office. If present, the treatment is closure or ablation, done by laser or rf energy. It is minimally invasive, done in the office under local anesthesia, with minimal downtime, discomfort or scarring. Seek a vein specialist.
