Very different: Strattera (atomoxetine), (atomoxetine) a non-stimulant, works quite differently from ritalin. Ritalin works within minutes but wears off later that day; it can be taken or skipped day-to-day as needed. Strattera (atomoxetine) has to build up in the body and may take several weeks to have an effect; it must be taken daily. Ritalin works about 65% of the time; strattera, (atomoxetine) about 45%. When they work, though, benefits quite similar.

For different probs: Ritalin is a stimulant medicaiton which works directly to correct the chemical imbalance that causes ADHD. Strattera (atomoxetine) is an antidepressant that works better for anxiety causing difficulty with attention. they are not interchangeable.
