Mixed opinions: The world health organization has regarded acupuncture as a useful treatment for depression, and several studies show this also. However, the cochrane review of this topic (http://www.Thecochranelibrary.Com/userfiles/ccoch/file/acupuncture_ancient_traditions/cd004046.Pdf) did not support that point of view. A tcm practitioner sees depression very differently from cochrane reviews, anyway.
