A member asked:

How can i tell if a loved one is having memory problems or dementia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You probably can't: Memory loss or memory retrieval problems often appear and then disappear for various reasons. It takes someone trained in how memory works to make such a diagnosis. If you notice memory problems and are concerned, consult with your primary care physician. If he/she is not able to give you the answer, he/she will refer you to someone who can.
