Very rarely: Squamous cell carcinomas are uncommon in children. When diagnosed in young individuals, there is usually a predisposing factor like immunosuppression (transplant patients), previous exposure to radiation or chemotherapy, or human papilloma virus infection. Squamous cell cancers of the skin usually takes years of ultraviolet light exposure before appearing at an average age of 65.
